Course Objectives

Learners will understand the basics of the five levels of the Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility (TPSR) model and how it serves as a foundation for Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) in Physical Education.

Learners will be able to identify CASEL’s 5 core competencies essential for social and emotional learning.

Learners will be able to explain benefits of SEL in the physical education classroom.

Learners will be able to connect SEL competencies to the 2024 SHAPE America national standards.

Learners will be able to identify 5 teaching strategies to incorporate SEL into their classroom.
